FOF KIDS & TEENS
Young Aviators
Aviation is a big world. You just need somewhere to start.
Forces of Flight Young Aviators courses are designed for curious kids and teens ages 8–16 who want to explore aviation—whether they already love airplanes or are just beginning to wonder what flying is all about.
No aviation experience is required. Parents don’t need to be pilots, and students don’t need to know the difference between an aileron and an altimeter before they begin. Young Aviators is designed to make aviation understandable, approachable, and fun from the very beginning.

Interested in aviation but not sure where to start?
Getting Started in Aviation: Kids & Teens Guide was created for exactly that question.
This interactive online course introduces young learners to the world of aviation and helps them discover the many different ways they can begin exploring it for themselves. Along the way, they’ll learn about airplanes and how they fly, step inside the cockpit, explore the larger aviation system, discover aviation careers and opportunities, and find practical ways to keep learning beyond the course.
Rather than assuming students already know how aviation works—or have a pilot in the family to show them—this course starts at the beginning and builds from there.
Learn by exploring
This isn’t a long video lecture or a digital textbook.
The course is divided into short, interactive lessons that combine explanations, photographs and graphics, questions, activities, and opportunities to explore. Learners move through the course at their own pace, making it easy to stop, investigate something interesting, and come back when they’re ready.
The complete guide takes approximately 45–60 minutes, but there is no need to rush. Aviation is much bigger than one course, and the goal isn’t to memorize everything. It’s to understand enough to start asking better questions—and to know where to go next.
Aviation, STEM, and the world around you
Learning about aviation naturally brings together science, technology, engineering, mathematics, history, geography, weather, transportation, and problem-solving. But Young Aviators isn’t designed to make those subjects feel like another school assignment.
Instead, learners encounter them through real questions about flight: How does an airplane get off the ground? What do all those controls in the cockpit do? How do pilots know where to go? What happens at an airport? What kinds of jobs exist in aviation? And how can a kid who is interested in all of this actually get involved?
Aviation becomes the reason to learn.
